At the Kings Court Positions Appointed Le Party Scene Les Femmes Bonnes Military Matters Religious Affaires Crossed Blades Comings and Goings & Le Interview avec le Compte d'Avignon, Robespierre O'Rielly Par Le Seine Ah, le seine was calm. Some took advantage of the cold to find ways to improve themselves indoors. Monsieur Gregoire de Fronsac busied himself at the University by attending the School of Literature for a fortnight. I was fortunate enough to attend a church service in which Monsieur de Fronsac volunteered his services at the organ. His playing was very nice by my standards and everyone seemed pleased. When I asked, I discovered that this was not the first time, but the second he had offered his services. I look forward to what we can expect from this young educated minded man with a hint a some religious fervor. The Governor Luc le Canard-Jaune, after acquitting himself on the pont, made his way to Madame Duchene's to brush up on his etiquette for the ball Monsieur Tomās de Tainquengin held and the party he held at his estate when he visited the Province of Loire. Unfortunately it turned out to be merely a intimate twosome. I am sure that the brushing up on etiquette helped out when he was at court with the King and the other governors and ministers. And still, he managed to make it to church. Also attending church was Captain Denis de Dumonde who spent fully half the month in attending religious services. One might think that he was inclined towards the Cardinal's Guard in his later career or perhaps even a career in the church once his military career concludes. His newly won Lady Fanny was at his side the entire time including his visits to the Frog & Peach which was new to him as well this month. Captain de Dumonde found time in amongst his church visitations to host a party at the Frog & Peach. Monsieur Jacques Inzabox found time to visit his club, the Red Philips and to celebrate his new sponsorships. He too found time make his way to the bawdyhouse and enjoy some female companionship before he finds himself under the confines of the cloth. Major Lyrrad Devergonde of the Royal Marines spent his time first in regimental duties and then at the University studying medicine. Perhaps the good Lyrrad Devergonde hopes to find himself a career after the military or perhaps even become something like a surgeon general. Our grand Compte Major Robespierre O'Rielly visited his club with his lady friend Julienne early in the month. After finding a quiet but enjoyable companionship, Major O'Reilly took the summer campaign of some serious matter and in preparing for his part in the upcoming summer campaign, spent the remainder of the month at the Military Academy. In recent words that Compte O'Reilly shared with me, I know this is a serious matter for him and for the people of Avignon. Compte O'Reilly's desk-mate for the lessons at the academy were none other than Monsieur Jose Negron. M. Negron no doubt believes that his attendance will improve his chances at getting into the Crown Prince Cuirassiers. Perhaps he can gain some influence from his desk mate. I look forward to seeing what these to men do on the field when Jose Negron finally holds a commission. Other than the academy, Monsieur Negron found himself in the pleasant company of his mistress April at church no doubt praying for guidance. The only other major notable of the month was Captain Tomās de Tainquengin. Captain de Tainquengin spent his time practicing his dancing with mistress Lucy at Madame Duchene's. I understand that it was well worth the investment as the talk of the musicians at the rather small gathering was that he could easily teach a class himself so graceful was his footwork at so easy was his mistress in his arms. The Captain of the Cardinal's Escort made his appearance at church and attended riding lessons with Monsieur Duchene. He will be a force ready for any aspect court might present him. Oh, and he purchased a small mansion this month in which he held his intimate ball. Next month hopes to show more action. Let's see what might transpire. |
