Les Quiet Soirees

February found itself much quieter at the clubs and in parties.  I would have scarcely thought it possible to have a quieter month than January, but then I was obviously mistaken.

The Frog and Peach welcomed its newest member, Monsiuer Denis de Dumonde late of the Red Phillips Club.  He followed his party last month with a quiet little get together with his new conquest Fanny by his side.  Gregoire de Fronsac made his appearance and the trio spoke quietly but enthusiastically about Paris and what their expectations had been upon arriving in the city.  Let us say that while some things are exactly as they expected, others certainly were not.

Tomās de Tainquengin and Lucy hosted a very small get party at his new home, a small mansion near to Paris.  It too turned out to be an intimate affair as he was joined by Provincial Governor Luc le Canard-Jaune.  Upon the Governor's arm was of course the Lady Ineta.  Monsieur Thierry Arriviste the  also attended with the Lady Diane in escort.  Apparently the disagreement between M. Arriviste and governor was settled and they found themselves able to enjoy the small gathering.  While the friends had a great time, I am afraid that Monsieur de Tainquengin made a better show when the music played putting on a display of his recently learned steps from Madame Duchene.  Governor le Canard-Jaune did not fair as well with his footwork as Ineta was quick to point out as she hobbled back to the small table set for the four of them.  Lady Diane had no such complaints as Monsieur Arriviste was not able to bring himself to the floor when the music played.  Perhaps he feared he would make Monsieur le Canard-Jaune look inept and did not wish to continue a disagreement they both felt was simply a careless misunderstanding.

Governor le Canard-Jaune attempted to return the favour by opening his estate in Poitiers.  Unfortunately, no one was able to make the trip.  Ineta was upset that maybe her words about her pained feet might have had some influence on their decisions, but the Governor was quick to dismiss the notion and added that the weather was more likely the culprit.

Hopefully next month will be more exciting.
